Заказ был сделан, процессор был получен. И, хоть я и банальные вещи сейчас скажу, но, разница с Celeron G1850 ощущается сразу и весьма заметно, причем выражается это абсолютно во всем, даже в самых простых бытовых задачах: скорость открывания папок, скорость открывания браузера, скорость загрузки страницы, скорость переключения между вкладками и прочие подобные процессы. На Xeon E3-1220 v3 это все происходит заметно быстрее, заметно резче. Более того, на Celeron G1850 были явные проблемы с сервисом YouTube, если я включал видео и переключался на другую вкладку, видео могло просто повиснуть, либо повиснуть мог только видеоряд, при этом звук продолжал идти. Даже без переключения вкладок работа с окном была довольно «натужной», разрешение переключалось тяжело и долго, при перемотке ролик мог просто повиснуть, после чего помогало лишь обновление страницы. Да-да, аппаратное декодирование видеопотока на видеокарте еще не означает полную независимость от процессора. На Xeon E3-1220 v3 ничего этого нет, ролики открываются очень быстро, разрешение переключаются моментально, никаких зависаний нет, перемотка работает очень быстро и без каких-либо проблем. Еще из «живых» примеров: в Photoshop есть такой инструмент, как «Content-Aware Scale», который позволяет растягивать изображение сохраняя пропорции нужных объектов, на Celeron процесс растягивания происходит с заметной «задержкой» и рывками. Только что я работал этим инструментом с изображением в разрешении 5085 на 2873 пикселей (почти 15 мегапикселей, это больше, чем 4K) весом более 2МБ и никаких проблем не заметил, процесс проходит плавно, без задержек и рывков. В целом работа компьютера на Xeon E3-1220 v3 в повседневных задачах ощутимо «бодрее» и сказывается здесь, как мне кажется, далеко не только несколько более высокая частота или вдвое большее число ядер, но и ощутимая разница в объеме кеш-памяти 3 уровня: 2МБ против 8МБ, думаю, играют здесь не последнюю роль. По сути Xeon E3 1220 v3 – это как Core i7 с деактивированной технологией Hyper-Threading. В интернете уже не раз обсуждались результаты подобных процессоров, а именно тот факт, что «симулирование» младших процессоров путем отключения потоков/ядер на флагманском процессоре не совсем корректно, так как результаты такого «симулянта» оказываются выше, в частности, как раз за счет более объемной кеш-памяти 3 уровня. Что касается рабочих частот, то в однопотоке процессор бустит до положенных максимальных 3.5 ГГц, в многопотоке частота снижается до 3.3 ГГц, что на 200 МГц выше базовой частоты.

Переходя к тестам, к сожалению, вынужден констатировать факт: в ряде случаев видеокарта банально «не тянула», показывая предельную или близкую к предельной загрузку. Как я уже писал выше, мой домашний компьютер служит в основном чем-то вроде печатной машинки с доступом в интернет и для этих целей мне хватает GTX 1060 3GB, а других на данный момент под рукой просто нет. Поэтому результаты процессора частично ограничены видеокартой. Особенно это касается Hitman и The Witcher 3, где загрузка видеокарты в большинстве своем находится на пределе даже в минимально возможном разрешении. Само же тестирование будет несколько сумбурным: сравнивать результаты Xeon E3-1220 v3 буду с другими процессорами, что у меня были ранее (в том числе из прошлых моих записей), но так как в разное время на разных процессорах я не всегда использовал одни и те же программы, на разных графиках иногда будут присутствовать или отсутствовать разные процессоры. По этой же причине я не стану выделять каждый процессор своим цветом, так как это только запутает, тем более на графиках с мин./макс./средн. показателями это просто долго. Поэтому внимательно смотрите подписи данных. Кроме того, обращайте внимание и на частоту, в разных тестах частоты на одном и том же процессоре могут отличаться.

Cache

Instruction Set
